With a decade of experience and moderate ADHD, Skinny Friedman's trademark is his ability to span genres in both his sets and his production. His Trap Rave and Trap Rave 2.0 EP's, which weave trap rap and dubstep wobbles into the quickly-growing moombahton genre, have seen support from Diplo, Sinden, Starkey, Nick Catchdubs, Dave Nada, DJ Ayres and Dillon Francis. His mixes have been heard on Shade45, Scion Radio, Discobelle and through DJ Shadow's (now-defunct) Quanuum Projects label.
After cutting his teeth in the St. Louis hip-hop scene in college, Skinny returned east to start the anything-goes Philadelphyinz party in Philadelphia with DJ Apt One. The duo built their name mixing rap hits, house classics and weird rare disco into something coherent. Philadelphyinz recently ended after a six year run, but the duo continues their montly Hot Mess party at Philly's legendary Silk City Diner. In New York, Skinny and Sammy Bananas (Fools Gold/Telephoned) hold down the bi-monthly Players Club party at Pianos, which the Village Voice named "best off-night party."
Skinny travels frequently, picking up gigs in over 25 cities across the country and making his European debut in Norway in the summer of 2011. He has shared stages with Tittsworth, The Dirty Projectors, Wale, Juan MacLean and Stretch Armstrong, and backed up rappers like Das Racist, Kitty Pryde, Fat Tony and Izza Kizza. He is also a co-founder and A&R for Young Robots Records.
